Repaint/Paint-over Exercise

Majestic Cetaceans - This is a paint-over of an image I made some time ago. I feel like i have improved a lot and I thought it would be a good exercise to do a few paint-overs to see how I would do the same picture differently now. This is the first. I have posted both the before (on top) and the after (below). What do you think? Which do you prefer?
